Start spreading the news: I used to be cool. Not so much any more.
I realized this when I took the kids to the playground the other day and ran into a high school friend who I hadn't seen in 20 years. I had a booger up my nose. It seems like that always happens to me. Whenever I want to look cool, the forces of evil conspire against me and make me out to be a total loser. I don't remember this happening when I was younger. Even worse, my mom was at the playground, too. She didn't tell me. Must have been payback for not eating the raita. (See 4.10.09 "If it walks like a duck" blog post)
So, in an attempt to get my groove back, I am going to NYC tomorrow. And, you know I'm stashing a pocket mirror. First I'm driving to LGA to pick Mike up. It'll be interesting to see if I've lost my touch or if I can still flip the bird and change lanes at warp speed. Then, I'll tax my brain to see if I can still snake through the city streets to find our favorite parking garage on E. 76th St. Good thing I've got the GPS. Once there, it's cake. Hail cabs or hit the subways and meet friends for drinks, lunch, drinks, dinner, drinks, drinks and more drinks. Yellow cabs, take note! I will be in dire need of your services that night.
I hope the woman who loves to sleep can still hold her own in the city that never sleeps.

Wish we were there to try and be cool with you. At least you used to be cool, Sonali. I've never been cool. We'll be there with you in spirit. Actually, Dave will be in Vegas "working" and I will be home with the Yahoos. How is it that Dave & I have been "together" for 14 years (YIKES!!) and he's been to Vegas nearly every year, but I have yet to join him there????? Hmmmmm. . .maybe one of these years I should "surprise" him with a plane ticket to join him!
