We're leaving for Nani and Nana's house tomorrow. I haven't started packing yet. The Doobies, on the other hand, started packing six days ago. I didn't mind because it kept them really busy. But now, random things are missing from the house so I inventoried (ransacked) their bags. Luckily, they only packed two. Sweet. Equally sweet (I don't mean sweet as in cute, I mean, sweet as in sweeeeeeeeeeeet!) is what's inside the bag:
1. Marbles
2. Train tracks
3. Trains
4. Tea cups
5. Binoculars
6. Fork
7. Plate
8. Another backpack packed filled with more random stuff
It's amazing what a three and five year old think the essentials are. We're going away for a week and they must bring marbles. And, thank god Kaila packed a tea cup. I could see her wandering around on day four, lost without a make-believe, hot, caffeinated beverage. What about socks, pants, shirts, shoes? What about underwear, for chrissakes? Screw it, we'll go commando! A hairbrush? No, bring on the Rasta dreads! Toothbrush? We'll use our fingers! Jackets? We won't leave the house! Madan suggested we bring milk. I assured him that milk existed on Planet Pennsylvania.
"Um, guys?" I asked, "Did you consider packing any clothes or stuff you might really need?"
"Oh, yeah!"
Good idea, Yo.
