Get your freak on.

Maureen Dowd just wrote some words to live by.

"Sometimes the thing that’s weird about you is the thing that’s cool about you. When you’re young, and even at times when you’re older, it’s hard to fathom this: What needs to be nurtured is the stuff that’s different, that sets you apart from the pack, rather than the stuff that helps you blend in."

So true. But, so difficult especially when society ostracizes you for being different. How many parents today are trying to figure out how to get their kids to fit in rather than stand out? How many of us tell our kids to go get dressed only to change their outfits before they leave the house? Tights that don't match the skirt that doesn't match the shirt? Oh, the horror!

Maureen is right. It's time to let the freaky flag fly. To read her Op-Ed piece and see why she should have embraced her inner-vampire, click here.
