Everything zen? I don't think so.

What is it with 6am and ear-busting noise? The kids love to wake up and strike up the band. Yesterday, it sounded like they were having races up and down the hallway. When they got bored of that, Madan gave Kaila piano lessons for what seemed like an eternity. That, coupled with the preschool-version of "This Land is Your Land" finally got me out of bed. (Thanks, Mrs. Mast.) No wonder I have dark circles under my eyes.

We put the doobies to bed at 9:30pm last night. That's late in doobie-world. I mistakenly thought the pushed-back bedtime would buy me a later wake-up time and some more uninterrupted Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzs. Wrong! Judging by the decibel level downstairs, the kids woke up right on schedule and with enough energy to whoop it up about waffles for an hour. Kaila also decided to practice her "whistle" which is basically screaming with your mouth shut. Brilliant. And, what toy company decided that a car playing "La Bamba" was a good idea? That was a gift from my parents. Payback is a beeyach.

I've tried everything possible to combat the early wake-up time. Room darkeners, clocks purposely set an hour behind, bribes, threats, begging, pleading, hiding, crying. No dice. I can't seem to break their internal alarm clocks. At some point, I'll have to learn to love coffee.
